Watching the lighting plot and dancers
This week I activated the glow tape every morning and then I watched the lighting plot and the dancers. I also got some information about each song which I have written about below. The song running up that hill by Kate Bush is a contemporary group piece that was choreographed by Vicky with the curtains closed. The song Alexander Hamilton by Lin-Manuel is a song from the musical Hamilton. This is a group piece performed by the MTs that sing while dancing so mics are needed for this number. Also, all 4 of the stage blocks are used in this song. Darren was in charge of the singing and Sam was in charge of the movement for this song and the curtains are closed for this song. The song Running by Frank Stillone is a upbeat jazz group number that was choreographed by Vicky with the curtains closed. The song I have nothing by Whittney Houston is a solo lyrical piece that is performed by a different dancer in different shows and the dancer’s names are Alfie and Grace. Choreographed by Vicky with the curtains closed. The song Billie mix extended is a mix of songs by Billie Eilish and it’s a commercial group piece choreographed by Johnathan with the curtains open. Weekly evaluation 3
This week I activated the glow tape every morning for the lighting plot and then I didn’t have much to do so I watched the lighting plot and I watched some of the dances which we performed multiple times to get the lighting correct. I solved the problem of the glow tape not being bright enough which would have been dangerous from the dancers running behind the curtains and when they are running in the dark, they could of ran into a light causing serious injuries. I solved the problem before it became one by activating the glow tape with a torch. This job may seem annoying or not important to do at first, but it is an important job. I can improve on my knowledge about the dance show by watching the whole show. This would be useful so I know when and how the stage blocks, chairs and sofa will be used. At the moment I've only seen a few songs from the mic and lighting plots. I would also like to see the dance show because I use to go to dance clubs and perform in shows when I was a kid and then I watched the show on DVD. Also I knew the dance show would be good from watching the dance show last year in college. This week I researched information about the musical Alexander Hamilton because some of the lyrics confused me where I hadn’t seen the musical. At first I thought it was about a school boy who’s mother passed away and carried on in life until he was shot which I guessed from the lyrics. I got these ideas from the quotes “ Alex got better but his mother went quick” and “ I was the damn fool who shot him”. Then I learned that it was based on the true story of a founding father of America called Alexander Hamilton who was George Washington’s secretary of treasury also he helped with the revolution war and writing the constitution.
